Self Improvement Starts With Self Acceptance

"No amount of self improvement will make up for a lack of self acceptance." Robert Holden

How true this quote is. We can work on improving ourselves as long as we want and attend all the personal development seminars that are out there, however if we do not accept ourselves for who we are, no amount of personal growth will be able to bring us the joy, fulfillment, and success that we are seeking. Unless we learn to feel worthy and deserving of the best life has to offer it cannot come to us - we will subconsciously sabotage ourselves. We need to let go of fears, self doubt and self criticism. It is also important to learn to relax and enjoy life.

Personal development is available to help us shed limiting beliefs and maximize our potential. However, it is crucial to understand that you are not flawed and broken. Each one of us is whole and complete as we are... we have simply forgotten that. Perhaps it was our upbringing and our cultural beliefs, perhaps it was our lack of success (as defined by ourself) along the way or perhaps we had a rough start in life and we were led to believe that we were somehow flawed. Know that you are not flawed.

You may have made decisions in the past that were not right for you and now you are seeing the results. The circumstances you are currently experiencing are simply a result of past thoughts and behaviors. However, your past does not need to equal your future. You can choose differently - right now! Simply take responsibility for your decisions and actions.

The first decision being the decision to accept yourself as you are!

The science of getting rich

Are you familiar with the book The Science of Getting Rich? I just finished reading this book yet again, and I find myself almost haunted by the simplicity of its teachings.

The Science of Getting Rich was originally published in 1910 and was written by Wallace Wattles. It's gained something of a rebirth in popularity over the past several years, particularly with the more recent popularity of the film The Secret.

Wattles' book outlines the the process of creative visualization, which is one of the foundations upon which The Science of Getting Rich is based. It has gained strong popularity within the self help industry because, while he doesn't use the exact language, it is really about harnessing law of attraction.

In addition, his book precedes the far more popular classic Think And Grow Rich, which was written by Napoleon Hill. Upon reading the two books, one can't help but wonder to what degree if any, Wattles' work influenced Hill.

For the student of law of attraction and for anyone looking to understand the mechanics of the process of deliberate creation and creating a life of inspired abundance, The Science of Getting Rich is a very valuable read.

Wattles' book is so deceptively simple, it's easy to dismiss. Yet, upon closer review ... and appreciate this is at least the 4th time I've read his book ... it speaks volumes about the process of how to utilize creative thought and visualization in order to put the laws of the universe at work for you. It's truly a brilliant little book.

In fact it is so brilliant, check back at our InspiredAbundance.com website and this blog soon, for something called the Inspired Science of Getting Rich. You'll be glad you did.

Were You Inspired By The Big Give?

Last Sunday evening Oprah's first episode of The Big Give aired and like many other hundreds of thousands of viewers, I sat down to watch. I must say that I do not watch T.V. more than once every few months. It's just not my thing.

However, this show promised to be something very unique, inspiring, and positive. What added a lot of fun to the viewing of the Big Give was that we were about 700 + Braveheartwomen on a conference call watching at the same time, and connecting during the commercial breaks. Were You Inspired by The Big Give?

You see world class speaker and trainer Ellie Drake had invited us to join her on this call as she had been inspired by Oprah to herself find a way to give in a big way. Visit http://www.inspiredbythebiggive.com.

The goal was that in 24 hours those of us listening would help raise $100,000.00 to help improve 10 homes in New Orleans. Ellie created a circumstance where we could each be a part of something that was bigger than ourselves. Through her leadership she demonstrated once again the principle of Together Everyone Achieves More.

Not only was the goal achieved and the $100,000.00 raised, the participants were inspired to positive action and the ripple effects are just starting. Now the members of this wonderful community are questioning themselves on how they can make a difference in their circle of influence and continue the theme of giving.

So allow me to leave you with this question to ponder:

How many ways of giving can you come up with? Remember you do not need to have money to give.

Go out there and give one of the greatest gifts of all and that is to be your authentic best self every day!

Thank you for giving me your time and attention.

In gratitude,

Are you asking yourself great life questions?

Asking good questions is an important success strategy, and crucial to the quality of your life. Through personal development and coaching, I have learned many valuable lessons. One of these lessons is the necessity to spend time asking oneself important questions. These life questions can be in relation to your career, your relationships, your financial situation and so forth.

Most people in this day and age, do not make the desired shift towards a better quality of life and their desired success, because they do not spend time quieting their minds and asking themselves worthwhile questions. Many will choose to go to seminars and read books which is all wonderful, however they expect the exterior things or beings to do the work for them. Most folks do not want to take the responsibility of doing the internal work.

Whether you know it or not, all the answers you seek are found within. What you need to do in order to get to the answers is learn to sit still, be quiet, slow down the mind chatter, and then ask your deeper self the life questions you want answers to.

Because of our microwave mentality, most individuals want the answers immediately. Know that it may take a few days, a couple of weeks, a month or maybe even longer. However you will get the answer if you persist. A key factor to getting your questions answered is to set out the intention of receiving the answers.

The answers to your life questions may come in the form of a clear knowing or an idea that pops unexpectedly into your head. It may also come from what the person in front of you is mirroring back to you. Just know that answers come in many forms, you simply need to go about your day being aware and open to receiving the answers.

Asking great life questions and finding out the answers is all part of doing personal development. Imagine being able to quiet yourself long enough to be able to connect to your deeper self and by doing so develop your ability to get the information you desire. How would that change your life?

So next time you are confused or frustrated, use the following success strategy - start asking yourself some great questions.

Are You Giving Too Much of Your Personal Power Away?

Personal power - do you use and therefore develop your personal power or are you someone who tends to give your power away? If you are always looking to someone else or to something else for the answers, always looking outside of yourself, then You probably give most of your power away.

One of the great benefits of personal development is the remembering and rediscovering of your personal power. Personal power being the ability to question yourself until you find the answer that is right for you. All the answers that you seek are in fact within you.

It is difficult to connect with your personal power and to use it if you have no self confidence and have not yet developed an inner trust. It may feel easier and more accurate to follow what someone else is saying and thinking - to simply receive answers. However that feeling is short lived because next time something comes up for you, you will find yourself once again needing to go outside of yourself.

Through personal development you will be able to start asking yourself the difficult questions and start to go within. With time you will develop the ability to find your answers more quickly and accurately because you will have learned the ability to listen to your intuition and to your emotional guidance system. You will be in fact trusting your inner self more.

As you are developing this personal power there are many tools and strategies that you can use to support you. However the goal is to become dependent on self and not on the outside being, tool or strategy. The products, tools and coaches are simply there to help you remember who you truly are and to help you recognize the incredible power within.

The one requirement to develop your personal power is to take the time to be still, to quiet yourself and your mind. Meditation is great for this.

Next time you want to deal with an issue, before going outside of yourself, take some time to be just with yourself and to start developing and accessing your personal power.

Make it a great day,

Have You Pushed Your Personal Success Reset Button for 2008?

The New Year is upon us, fresh in all ways and ready for us to make the most of it, and create the personal success we desire. So have you pushed your own personal success reset button for 2008?

I was inspired this morning to look back at one year ago and see what I had decided to reach for in 2007. I had listed among the many goals deeper connection with my loved ones, further improved health, my first $10,000.00 profit day, a trip to Mexico, to Montreal, and Australia, assistance in the area of marketing, a further understanding of Internet marketing, house renovations, and so on. I am pleased that I reached many of my goals. Some I did not fully complete yet I took many steps towards them, and I am much closer today than I was a year ago. Furthermore, I was blessed with much learning and personal growth that are taking me towards the personal success I desire.

We as humans are wired to learn, to grow and to expand into the beings we want to Be, Do and Have. That is how we differ from other living creatures. We have a choice as to the path we take.

The beginning of the new year marks one such choice point; the point that you get to choose where you want to be in life and start the journey towards that destination. Each day we get to press the Reset button and choose how we will move through the day. Each new year we get to press the Reset button and decide what we will reach for that year. This is the best time to press your Reset button and decide what you will reach for in 2008, in order to move you closer to your desired personal success.

The following questions will assist you in pushing the Reset button:

What is the ideal me looking like in 2008?

What am I choosing to Be, Do and Have? Am I continually choosing to be better and more, yet being grateful for where I am and what I have?

Am I choosing to be awakened to personal growth and development?

Through personal development you will be able to cross the bridge that leads you from where you are to where you want your personal success to be.

Whatever it is that you want to create, you must look at your mind set. If you want to create wealth and have a $5,000.00 a month mind set, even though you are given a $50,000.00 a month opportunity, you will invariably turn the $50,000.00 a month opportunity into a $5,000.00 income. Your mind set determines your personal success. Therefore part of the process in pressing the Reset button is choosing the path of personal growth and expanding your mind set.

May 2008 bless you with perfectly restored health, loving relationships, wealth, success, abundance in all ways, always.

"You don't get to choose how or when you're going to die. You can only decide how you're going to live. Now." Joan Baez

Take Action!

How many of you set some “resolutions” for the New Year? Let us call them what they are “goals”, resolutions for many is a way to say you are going to do something but if the action is not given to it then it is forgotten with little or no consequences to ourselves because after all it is just a resolution, right? You see if you call it a goal it is meaningful, I am not saying resolutions are not meaningful just the thought behind it is different. It is a subtle difference but for many it is the difference between success and failure. Last Christmas I made the decision to create the lifestyle we wanted, to start a home business and become an active & involved parent and to travel with our children. Wow, I look back at the year and we have accomplished just about everything we set as our goals for 2007!

So what do you want? What do you want to change compared to what you did in 2007. Really get clear on this, what do you want, are you willing to trade your life for it? Also, what has held you back from making this change in the past? Be clear on what limiting belief that you hold that has held you back from making these changes. Most of us want to change our work, fitness, health, and relationships but we do not take ACTION. We are paralyzed by FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real). We have to recognize that and face the fears we hold in our hearts that hold us back from what we want.

How do you make these resolutions into goals? One, write it down this is really important as it will set the sub-conscious mind into motion. Two, read it every day to remind yourself what it is you set your intention on doing, and then take ACTION. This is vitally important; many of us know of the Law of Attraction and we use it in our daily lives. However, it only works if you also integrate ACTION in the steps of using the LOA. What does action really mean? If you break it down it is really about making a decision and then following through with that decision. Make a goal or goals for 2008, write it down and read it every day as many times as you can, and then take ACTION. Make the decisions you need to make to move you towards what it is you want.

Here are 4 great steps to making decisions. Many people have trouble with this part of applying the LOA into their lives. Follow these steps and you will see things changing in the direction of your dreams so fast you will be amazed.

  1. DO I WANT TO be, do or have this?
  2. Will being, doing or having this Move me in the direction of my goal?
  3. Is being, doing or having this In Harmony with God’s Laws or the Laws of the Universe?
  4. Will being, doing or having this violate the Rights of Others?

If the answer to the first 3 questions is YES, and the answer to the last question NO, then take action and move forward.

I am so grateful for what I have been able to accomplish this year. With that I am so grateful for what I am already creating in 2008 because I can build on our success and also what I have learned in that process over the past year and I know achieving what I am setting as my goals for 2008. What about you? I will ask the question again, what do you want? Really what do you want in your life that for some reason or circumstance you have not accomplished yet. What is holding you back? Your success is assured if get clear on what you want and take ACTION!
